What's required?

The Glossary exercise allows you to participate in the construction of a collaborative hypertext. It also gives you an opportunity to practice your newly acquired html and image editing skills. Each student will work on the construction of a 'node' (sometimes inappropriately called a page) that will fit into a network of other nodes, all of which deal with an aspect of electronic communication.

You will be given a term in class for you to work on - these are randomly selected. The following are the minimum requirements for your glossary node.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum of 150 words, no maximum

A minimal version of a glossary entry would include:
[a] definition,
[b] explanation,
[c] illustration of some kind (anecdote, quotation, references, etc.) and
[d] contextualised links to other terms

Must involve two (relative) links: i.e. to two other glossary files from the listing. These links can be from an image, from part of an image, or from text, in your own page.

No external links (outside to other websites)

Your html file (it should be saved with ".html" as the file extension rather than ".htm") should be called the filename associated with your glossary term in the listing.

Make sure that the images in your page are named (a) with no more than 8 characters, (b) with no weird punctuation as part of the filename (e.g. no use of ^ or % etc.), and (c) start with the initials of your name (to ensure no doubling up in image filenames)

You can include any other media you wish on your page: whatever you think is appropriate and relevant
